Our Amway sponsor took a deferment from going to med school after
finishing his chemistry/pre-med degree. He never attended med school.

I knew someone who quit med school because of this scam. What made me
mad was im attending a funeral and this disrespecting little freak was

Oh Matthew (I have to assume that is your name from your email
address), my son's story sounds like a carbon copy of yours. The
problem is, we were not as brilliant (yes they are, Deb) as your
parents. We showed our true feelings about Quixtar early on and I am
not sure that my son (also named Matthew)will ever listen to us or
believe that we are supportive of him. He is almost financially self
sufficient. He has had his own place since Thanksgiving and has been
working in retail for about a year. I still pay his car insurance and
health insurance. He has no credit cards, thank god.

The big lesson here for those of you starting this journey with a
loved one. Don't let on how you really feel about this "business".
If you alienate your loved one, it is quite difficult to bring them
back. I am just trying to be loving and gentle with him now. I don't
think he will ever believe that I support Quixtar, but hopefully he
knows that I love him.

Thank your parents for the support they gave you. You are lucky to
have them.

Ugh.. they're like lemmings all over the WAHM world. I called a few of
them out on a public board the other week and they come back like
brainwashed drones saying how if it didn't work for me, I must not
have WORKED hard enough at it! <eye roll>

It makes me SO mad to see all the people they suck in.. and of course
by saying anything you just look like a bitter whiner over it..

Here is my simple rule of thumb for any MLM.

1. If they require you to buy a single dime's worth of product for
personal use ("Use it to understand it", "be your own best customer"
etc) - DON'T GET INTO IT - They are recruiting you as a customer
first. So whether you make a penny or not (and 99%+ don't), the
company always makes money. Remember that the "Autoship" makes money
for the company from 100 % of distributors whereas only a small
fraction at the tip of the pyramid see any returns. (This is the REAL
reason why these are pyramid schemes - Money flowing from all levels
to the top because every distributor is a customer first).

2. If they require any form of training whatsoever - books, cassettes,
motivation meetings - BIG RED FLAG - Thats a NO NO as well.
(Remember they said "Anyone can do it").
