I was involved with Herbalife for a while. There was hardly any tool cost and only a couple of functions a year. Nothing like the Amway I knew from the early 90's. Most of the attempted selling and recruiting was done over the phone and through the internet. However in order to truly make it work you will have to be on the phone and internet at least 30 hours a week if not more. You are not required to make a product investment but in order to make any profit you'll have to spend approximately $4,000.00 in products and materials to get started. Not to mention advertising which will be about $1,500.00 per month.
I busted my hump 30-35 hours a week on top of my regular 50 hour a week job. I had one of the fastest growing groups in the system. I followed the plan exactly the way it was set up. After a year and a half of doing everything my upline told me to do I was in the hole $6,000.00. I stopped building the business. My upline sponsor who was making $3,000.00 per month in profit quit because it tool too much time away from her family. Her sponsor who was making $80,000.00 per year quit because it was too time consuming. These gals were putting about 60-70 hours a week in.
I found if you are able to put the time in and get lucky you can make some money. But if you want to have a life besides Herbalife you will not be successful. Not to mention all of the people that pay into the scheme and never make a dime so you can be profitable. I still feel guilty about all of the people I got involved who lost thousands of dollars like I did.
