You've got to know what else an individual is taking, or not
taking.
The classic example is calcium supplements that cause
calcium to be leached from the bones, because the supplement
does not contain the other minerals that minimize/prevent
leaching.

Double check with your pharmacist. Pharmacists tend to be
more aware of the interaction between things that require a
prescription, and things that don't, than doctors do. [I'm
not sure if their is anything more surreal than a pharmacist
and doctor arguing over whether or not the prescription the
doctor wrote will kill or might kill the patient, because of
the non-prescription things the patient is taking.]

Go browse the nutrition and health certifications that some
of those MLMs suggest their members obtain. Electric water
baths, alkaline water and the like are peddled as being"
cutting edge" therapies.

I was horrified at the MLM meeting I attended, when the
person on stage said that their products are perfectly safe,
and would not cause any adverse reactions to anybody. A
brief perusal of the research indicates that roughly 0.1% of
the general population has a lethal reaction to the main
ingredient in their products.
