This has always been a concern for me, too. Anyone with a pulse, and
the IQ of a turnip, can go out and sell supplements to the
unsuspecting; and the "Oral Tradition" of MLMs makes sure there's a
lot of hype and misinformation being spread.

Even with something as simple as a multivitamin, you CAN run into trouble:

Many years ago, Amway changed the formulation on their Double X
vitamin - they added Vitamin K. The packaging didn't change, or say
"New and Improved". Thank God, I've got just enough medical knowledge
to know that Vitamin K countereffects blood thinners; and after
talking to Amway's legal department ("the customer should read the
label") and then our OWN legal cousel - I chose to include a warning
label on all the Double X we shipped, saying that people on blood
thinners should consult their doctors before taking the new formula.

Unfortunately, one of our downline IBOs had accumulated the 10 box
tabs it takes to get a free box of Double X, and had redeemed it
directly to Amway. A week later, her husband suffered a serious
stroke - he had been on blood thinners. Granted, he was 80 years old
- so it may have been coincidence, but I suspect not?

I'm always astounded at the more insane claims I've heard for other
products - that they cure cancer/MS/asthma/heart disease, etc. Does
it never occur to these people that the LAST place the "cure for
cancer" will be found is in some goofball's backyard lab - that only
the Founder of the Snake Oil himself knows the cure??????????????
