Nice story, Marcus. I hope you don't think it's typical. Some
elements of it are common to Quixtar organizations, but much of what
you've related is either very localized or your spin on what happened.

For example, at least twice in your story, you described feeling
threatened or cornered, and at least once you said you would "take one
down" and "cut him deep." There's nothing in my experience with
Quixtar that would have made me feel physically threatened. I was
never "trailed" by an IBO. Now, maybe someone else here has had such
an experience, so I won't say it's impossible. But from my
perspective, this looks like a chapter taken from Merchants Of
Deception that was adopted and transferred into the recruiting/open
meeting process.

IBOs are not likely to threaten their prospects. It makes recruiting
more difficult.

Another thing: A loan is a loan. EVERY time I, as an IBO, loaned
information, tapes brochures, whatever to potential recruits, I told
them that I would come by to get it back and to discuss it with them.
If you wanted to withhold their materials from them, I can understand
why they would be upset about it. I hope you do, too. Those
materials did not belong to you, and no matter what you thought of the
person giving them to you, you had no claim on those materials.

Finally, most of the people on this board have been in the shoes (and
suits) of those IBOs whom you seem to despise. Many of us have more
reason than you to despise them. After all, many of us took the bait
and BECAME IBOs, subsequently losing time and money to a sophisticated
scam that nearly took you in as well.

Before you go condemning anybody, please get educated about how scams
work. Please read up on who is responsible for the scam and who is
merely trained/brainwashed into perpetuating it. There's a huge
difference. Most of the people you dealt with in your story are
victims, just as you would have been if you had become an IBO.

You may have been laughing for 30 minutes after you got home, but
frankly, there's not much about your story that I find funny.

I do appreciate that you've shared it, though. It shows that there is
still much to learn about how we should handle recruiters for MLM, and
how our attitudes are so important to the process.
