Very localized?
Maybe so, because a lot of the "recruiters" I grew up in and around
the "bad neighborhoods" I know of. The initial contact I had didn't
finish high school, or so he said. Not trying to paint everyone with a
brush but where you grow up has a profound impact on you, you are an
example of your "neighborhood/
I noticed they all pulled in young, scruffy looking, males, what
really tipped me off...and maybe it was just coincidence, one of the
young men on the "consideration list", looked at exactly like a guy I
played high school football with a few years before. He never made it
out, got caught on a drug charge, dropped out, and had a kid.
My spin?
Well you have to understand, any time a "human" tells a story of an
account they will spin things the way they see it, human nature.
This is not to discredit anyone's story or information, we can help
it. Anyone who is writing or speaking for an audience has to tell the
story so everyone can comprehend. I tired my best to write the account
of events as they occurred I see no reason to lie or exaggerate, that
doesn't help anyone and it makes me look bad. I just wanted to share
with anyone who would want to listen.
despise?
Where did I say that I despised anyone?
Victims in their own right?
Understandable, there are a lot more who are sole/strong believers in
these organizations but see nothing of it (and thanks to sites like
this more people are seeing the truth.) Although it only cost me a
tank of gas, thank god I found your website/group in my initial
research, it helped to reinforce my gut feeling.
Can I see myself as a vicitm?
No, I have not suffered as much as some of the stories I have read.
But even if I did get "sucked" into the system who's fault is it? I
would place the blame squarely on "me." I took the bait, I threw
caution to the wind, I chased the empty promises, and I did not
reason. I could start smoking tomorrow but I wouldn't blame the
cigarette company for my addiction, I would blame me. I could not live
with myself if I didn't take responsiblity.
