How's this for a laugh!!
I answer the phones here at work. This guy calls and says he is
aRecruiting Manager for Primerica and wanted to know if it was
a "good time" to talk. He said he came across MY business card.
(Yeah, right. The only place my card goes is in the Quizno's
fishbowl to win a free sandwich. But then again - maybe that's where
he got it!)
I wasn't sure if I remembered the name right, but was thiinking to
myself that this was that financial MLM scam that I had heard about.
We get calls from Money Mangers and all sorts of people who want us
to offer their products to our clients. I work for a Wealth
Management Firm where we only deal with the very wealthy. (Those
worth over 5 million).
So he's saying garbage about how they are planning to expand in our
area and asks me if I am interested in helping them open an office
here. Still not sure if memory serves me correctly, I ask him, what
he is looking for and tell him I am not a financial person. I do
the "other stuff" here. He asks me if I am interested in learning
more about the financial side of things and running my own business.
And asks me how long I've been here. Then I start to realize that I
was thinking of the right company, and am trying to find a way to
politely get him off the phone (I am at work afterall.) So I tell
him that I don't know of anyone, but could take his name and number
in case I think of anyone.
I just couldn't believe that he would cold call a Wealth Management
Company and try to lure me away from a REAL job for a SCAM!
Luckily, I am smarter than he thought!
