[MLM Survivors Club] Re: Gay Military Man Denied Church Funeral

Come on Jim,

The church didn't know about his lifestyle until after they'd agreed
to it (too quickly perhaps, as he was a relative of a church
employee -- but not a member, himself). So in good faith, they
arranged for an alternative venue for services to be held in, and
even paid to have lunch catered... What more do you want?? Nowhere
were they disrespectful to either the deceased or his family.

Do you really feel that a church has no right to decline its
facilities -- or for that matter, its pastor and staff -- being used
to celebrate a lifestyle that flies in the face of the deeply held
beliefs and convictions of its leadership and membership? The event
was to include a gay men's chorus and a photo display in celebration -
- not merely of the deceased -- but openly of his 'gayness'.

Any private organization has the right to refrain from engaging in
activities that are incompatable with its policies and its beliefs.
Especially a church! That's the very reason our great nation was
begun!

Please limit your comparisons to apples and apples in the future.
This was too far afield...

Respectfully,
Den <><
