[MLM Survivors Club] Introduction and worried about relatives who are involved with Neways

Hi there, my name is Daisy. I'm not involved in an MLM myself, but
am increasingly concerned for the welfare of my sister Jo's family,
who are, so I've joined this group in the hope someone has some
information or advice they'd be willing to share with me. Jo and
her husband have been involved with "Neways" for about five years,
they were recruited by a very charismatic friend, and from where I'm
sitting it looks like they've been brainwashed. They were persuaded
to join Neways by the company's (or perhaps the friend's) claims
that the products are all free from cancer-causing chemicals. From
what I've seen of the company's literature and web site, they are
pretty circumspect about making any such claims in print, and so
most of these claims are spread by word of mouth. I don't know how
their involvement has affected Jo and her husband's family finances
(they claim to be doing well, but I suspect not), but this is not my
main concern – I am worried about their children's health and
welfare. The messages they seem to receive from their
Neways "uplines" are things like: nutrition is unimportant as long
as you take lots of Neways supplements; vaccinating children is bad
and unnecessary; fluoride gives you cancer; and there's no need to
worry about any healthy behaviours (e.g. diet, exercise) provided
you use lots of Neways products. Now, I don't know if these are
official messages put out by the Neways company, or if Jo and her
husband (both of whom are high school drop-outs, and not very
cynical or analytical) have misunderstood the information presented,
or if their charismatic friend is simply feeding them lots of pseudo-
scientific rubbish that they believe without question. In any case,
I'm worried about their two small children. They were both born
dangerously prematurely (and I wonder if this was related to my
sister's large consumption of Neways supplements during her
pregnancies?), have not been immunised against anything, seem to be
constantly sick, live on an appalling diet (fizzy drinks, cakes,
chicken nuggets ... anything lacking nutrition, really), and
although they are aged only four and two, are both riddled with
tooth decay. The older child is about to have some of her baby
teeth removed under general anaesthetic, as they are so decayed, and
still Jo and her husband refuse to let them drink fluoridated water,
or receive fluoride in any form. Jo and her husband have a very
dismissive attitude toward conventional medical science – they claim
that "doctors don't know anything", and believe that if they take
plenty of Neways antioxidants they'll prevent the diabetes and heart
disease that has plagued our family for generations. I don't think
there's anything I can do to change their minds – frankly I suspect
it'll take a tragedy for them to change their views and stop
behaving so irrationally. They've also driven away most of their
friends by constantly trying to recruit them as Neways
distributors. Has anyone else out there seen people behave like
this, i.e. risk their own health because they're so convinced of
Neways' effectiveness? Does anyone have any suggestions? I really
worry about my niece and nephew's wellbeing, and wish their parents
would come to their senses. Thanks for listening. Best wishes,
Daisy
