I spent this evening Googling ecoquest and ecoquest+fraud+scam. I
found tons of information, the vast majority highly critical of
ecoquest and it's products and claims. I don't have time to compile
it all together tonight but will post them tomorrow with links to back
them up so you can decide for yourself. Whoever is pursuing you will
probably have "answers" to the issues I raise but you will at least be
able to read them and form your own opinion. Until then my advice is
RUN like Hell and/or just say "NO". Thanks for placing them on our
radar screen. By the way can you give us more information about your
situation?

Thanks,
Robby

You won't find anything positive about the mlm business in this
club, unless it's from a troll. There are a few pro mlmer's (using
the club's definition of anti and pro) in here but they decry the
manner that mlms operate.

Agreed, however there are also many more stories of relationships
ruined be it marriage/romantic or friendship due to mlm. Not to
mention untold stories of distributors totally shirking parental
responsibilities as the babysitter was left to raise the raise the
kids as the parents were out building the biz. Sadly there are
situations in which distributors or their family members have lost
their lives either by suicide and in at least a few situations
murder.

I believe that most members here would not join another mlm if the
owners were Jesus and Mother Mary, the comp plan guranteed millions,
and the product both cleaned dishes and cured the common cold.

No BV/PV in consuming less and exercising more.

Good suggestion.

I fail to see where expecting upline to build a distibutor's
downline reminds me of welfare. I assume you mean individual
welfare not corporate welfare. I hope you are not suggesting that
recipients are on welfare simply to screw the taxpayer and become
wealthy. The vast majority of welfare recipients are on it
temporarily and will eventually leave welfare but some who are
disabled may be on it for life and cannot ever hope to become
financialy independent. If you don't know that particular person's
circumstances than you cannot make a judgement call. To rephrase
your last statement below, just like everything in life...it is all
"relative".

What do you mean by pursued? What is the situation so you can't just
tell them no? Are they family or close friends?

[MLM Survivors Club] Introduction...a newbie

Hello All,

My name is Teresa and I am a MLM survivor?? I think...

I have been in yahoo groups for awhile and seen this forum and
joined "IMMEDIATELY" I didn't think TWICE :)

I started reading posts and seen most were in a negative light of MLM
and I do know why!

I use to work for a corporate NWM office and seen all aspects of the
industry, what caught my eye over and over was the rags to riches
stories I seen first hand.

I do want you to know people did loose alot and even filing
bankruptcy. This can ruin families for generations!

I quit to start a family and my mother a MLM junkie (sadly I started
it from my corporate days..."What do you do?")

I knew I would return to MLM (as a distributor) BUT all the pieces had
to be in place for me, owners, comp plan, and first on the list the
product.

I have always heard about Amway and even know people that have been in
it 3 TIMES!!! HELLO!

I see a scam from a mile away! I am a MLM survivor, I have seen my
downline robot off to the bunch of latest garbage out there.

My pet peeve is Health and Wellness FOR EX. "I lost 10 pounds in 7
days with a new revolunationary diet product no one has ever heard of"

SORRY PUKE FEST!

We all know the only way to lose weight is to have less calories than
energy during a day ON A CONSISTANT basis.

Repition for Retention...no secret

Same with MLM..

If your "so called upline is telling you to just join I will build
your business" Please just LAUGH out loud in their face and say "GO
for it! buy my first month in and I will watch my downline grow, I
will pay you back when I get my first check in"

Reverse it... it took them alot of guts up to tell you about their
scam just reverse it!

One last thing I can not keep out, if you do decide to join a program
dont ever expect for your upline to build it for you...What does that
remind you of? Ahhh Yess Welfare checks from the GOV.

Guess What you are the only one responsible for your financial
future...PERIOD.

For all the Anti - MLM ...I know, but just like every thing in
life...It is all relevant.

I agree. That was really well said. Although we did not last as long
as Ben, we did reach the Emerald level. When the reality of the
whole thing sits in, it is very, very, complicated. Ben, you have
captured the feeling. The memory of looking out at the audience and
seeing the faces that would never make it is a memory we have
struggled with for a few years. We have moved on, but will never get
over it.

Thanks for putting that into words that are very moving.

[MLM Survivors Club] Friends Are In Deep...

I am hoping for some advice from this group.

I have some friends that are involved in "The Team" which also
includes Quixtar. They are in quite deep, and are continually buying
the tapes, CDs, products, attending meetings etc...

I ahve tried to present evidence of facts and how they will not make
money with this "business", but nothing seems to work. A quote from
over the holidays was, "soon we will NEVER have to worry about moeny
again". That type of statement really scares me, as no matter if you
have no money, or all the money in the world, you will always have to
worry about money. Whether it be, "will there be enough", or "how can
my money help others", the worrying never stops.

I feel they have a clouded view of the world, and how The Team can
provide the means to purchase all of these material items.....

Anyway, what can I do to hopefully show them the light? Is there a
specific study, article, tactic, or whatever that works?

Thanks for the help.

What state is the MLM domiciled in?
What state does the MLM do business in?

I assume that the MLM you are in is not a member of the DSA.
If it is, then you can file a complaint with the DSA stating that the
MLM is violating the DSA Code of ethics. It won't mean anything,
because the DSA has publicly admitted that:
* None of its members are in compliance with that code;
* They do not expect any of their members to be in compliance with that
code;
* It does not have the ability to enforce that code;
* It does not have inclination to enforce that code;

> understanding what I read last night I need to ask for reimbursement
> before seeking arbitration in the State of CA).

Unless the contract you signed specifies that you must seek arbitration,
do not do so. Where MLMs are concerned, arbitration is one sided --- in
favor the of the MLM. Justice and arbitration are mutually exclusive
terms, when it comes to MLMs.

> Anyone out there who could suggest some key points that may perhaps
> encourage the MLM to accept my return would be helpful.

The points to make depend upon the contract that you signed with the
MLM. It does no good citing California law, and Ninth District Case
law, if your MLM is in Florida, or the Second District.

> If I go to small claims in CA would the case be heard in my city of residence or where
> the MLM is based (i.e., TX).

If the MLM is located in Texas, and you have had your product for less
than one year. Return it to the company, and get proof of delivery.
They are legally obliged to refund a _minimum_ of 90% [At least one
court suggests that that amount is unreasonably low.]

If they fail to refund your money within 90 days, you can file criminal
charges against the individual who signed for the return of the
merchandise, and civil charges against the company.

>If I do decide to file suit does anyone know if filing a class action
law suit in CA is generally more
> expediant than those filed personally?

You'd need to talk to an attorney about that. It depends upon the
contract you signed with the MLM, the laws in the state that it is
domiciled in, and the laws of the state that you are in.
