I just saw a great quote about dealing with people
like this:
"You cannot reason people out of something they did
not reason their way into".
Your friends have joined this group driven by some
emotional factor which makes sure that they do not see
what should be obvious. I think all of us have these
blindspots in some points of our lives.
Trying to point out something which is obvious to you
but which they cannot or will not see is only going to
lead to frustration for all of you.
Personallyt I would just confine myself to
enthusiastically enquiring about their wealth. Don't
worry about the answers they will just be excuses,
just keep asking. At some point they may make the
cognitive connection - once THEY start to question
things then the edifice will crumble.
