[MLM Survivors Club] Re: The "Jesus" Twist -- Rant on Religion and MLM's

First time poster here, I thought I would comment on this
considering I was with the Winters Team/LTD for 2 years, went
4000 "Eagle/LT6" and left the business because of this topic.

LTD (as well as many other AQMO's) uses Christianity to "reveal" to
new IBO's a great way to spread the good word through the business
and for them to find their true calling in life. It's an appeal to
your "I want to do good in life" side. They will also use it to keep
you in and control your actions(more on that later). As
Xan/Jonathon stated, they preach a somewhat twisted version of
Christianity better known as Prosperity Gospel or Word-of-Faith.
They even had Kenneth Copeland speak at one of the LTD leadership
functions this year (google him if you don't know what he's about).
For the most part, the leaders of LTD have similar beliefs of
Copeland. For more information on this please check out
the "Standing Order Tape" blog, it actually helped me realize the
Biblical flaws of what was being said from the LTD/Winters stage
(Thanks Xan!)

One leader even described the process of getting a new IBO to sell
out to the system as peeling an onion. You do it one layer at a
time. Eventually getting to the core of one's belief. You start by
appealing to wealth/money/free time, things anyone can relate to.
Eventually you appeal to deeper things such as religion. This
spiritual appeal was the center that helped control and lead me down
the path I followed. It was used against me and others I knew as we
left LTD. (OP- your friends are probably pretty sold if they're
telling you Jesus wants you to do the business!)

A close crossline friend of mine recently left the business to
pursue ownership in an ice-cream franchise. His upline heard of
this and immediately called him. His rebuttal to my friend's
decision was simply that if God wanted him to open an ice cream
franchise then he would have shown him an ice cream business plan.
But since he was shown the Quixtar business plan that God certainly
desired him to build Quixtar. My two upline emeralds sat me down as
I decided to leave to explain to me what would happen if I left
my "God-given calling." I would leave God's protective umbrella
(i.e. the Quixtar leadership!) and be openly subjected to the Evil
One. They slyly mentioned that so many others that left soon found
themselves divorced, broke, and in spiritual despair.

Be careful with your friends. I would ask them if they know that
Kenneth Copeland spoke at the last Leadership Team trip. Then give
them the book called "The Disease of the Health and Wealth Gospels"
by Gordon Fee who is a world renowned New Testament scholar (you can
find the book on amazon.com). You can't tell them that this business
isn't their God-given calling, but maybe you can place the seeds of
doubt about the intentions of the leaders.

Hope this helps!
