This post reminded me of the turning point in my abusive relationship.
My mother, while visiting us, bought 3 copies of "Men Who Hate Women
and the Women Who Love Them", 1 for my sister, 1 for Mom's friend and
1 for Mom (a psychologist). I don't know if she intended one for me,
but I grabbed it and read it through quickly (while he was out). I
recognized myself in the book, and it turned my thinking around
dramatically. I was no longer lost in a fog of confusion, but
realized that the fog was my way of intentionally obscuring my anger.

I don't know if that book is still in print, but there are sure to be
many books like it out now. You might try to find a way of innocently
and unobtrusively making one available to your daughter.
