Well perhaps you could slowly make that come back around. Make sure he knows you love him and have decided to support him no matter what his choices are. I know this is tough but as a parent you have to be their for your kids through their successes and failures. Remember a parents love should be unconditional. You said you were paying for his car insurance and health insurance...

Unfortunately, our relationship has disintegrated to the point that
Matthew has refused to have any conversations about business at all
with us. He won't talk about his straight job, either. In fact, his
conversations with us are reserved for trivial things like weather,
movies and what we are having for dinner when he comes over. It's
heart-breaking. Even politics, finance, cars or clothing starts
arguments when he spouts his views or aspirations. I would love to
have an open discussion of what endless possibilities he could have if
he wasn't so stuck in this skewed thinking. This is a bright,
personable young man. But we find it futile to even approach him.
