My opinion??

MLM just isn't a very efficient way to make an income that would take
the place of a regular job. It CAN, under the right circumstances,
provide a little extra money.

The problems arise when there are no "employees" - just
"independents". The products get hyped to the point of ridiculous;
and a handful of greedy people will figure out a way to bilk the
followers out of additional money. As a rule, the product
manufacturer looks the other way, since these unscrupulous groups tend
to push "personal consumption" and the manufacturer actually believes
they have a great product...

And the biggest problem is "reputation". YOU might develop an honest
and workable MLM - but you have been preceded by HUNDREDS of
slimeballs who have scammed untold amounts of money from people who
simply wanted to earn a little extra money. The internet is a
powerful source of information - and the pool of information regarding
MLMs is plenty muddy.

I'd put the effort into something else if I were you??
