LTD and Quixtar are technically 2 seperate entities but to answer your
question: yes, LTD is a part of Quixtar. Each and every member of LTD
is a Quixtar IBO (independent business owner).
LTD serves as a training team. LTD has about 20,000 or so members,
all of whom are Quixtar IBO's. There are many other training teams
that are tight knit groups of Quixtar IBO's that work together in a
training system. Some include BWW, WWDB, Network21, etc.
Essentially what your friends did when they joined was sign up with
both Quixtar and LTD. Quixtar provides them with products (like XS
energy drinks and Nutrilite vitamins) and LTD trains them and is the
collective group that puts out CD's, has weekly and quartlery
meetings. Your friends get a check every month from Quixtar depending
on how much product they and their group move through the Quixtar site
(often just called an online mall by IBO's). The top "leaders" who
have reached platinum and above also get paid by LTD based on the CD's
and tools they sell to their group.
Because the top leaders make more on CD's and functions they will
often preach 100% loyalty to LTD. You must realize that your friends
are taught that LTD is their ticket to success, not Quixtar. Quixtar
is simply promoted a product/web portal that gives them a chance to
build a business. LTD is their ticket to success and teaches
them "true success principles" and helps them build a business. At any
time there are dozens of other network marketing businesses that LTD
can "jump ship" to.
I like to use the analogy of college football. There is only one NCAA
who regulates, monitors, and referees all of college football.
However, there are many teams who play underneath the NCAA umbrella
who all do things differently. Each player is extremely loyal to his
own team, but must play by the NCAA rules.
LTD, BWW, WWDB, etc are all training teams under the Quixtar umbrella.
The members of each are extremely loyal to their respective teams but
build their businesses under the Quixtar umbrella. Often these groups
will try to shield their affiliation with Quixtar because of the bad
reputation. That's what your friends are doing.
