[MLM Survivors Club] Finally introducing myself:

Hi, my name is Shana and I am an Herbalife survivor.

I have been lurking here for some time, but haven't contributed
because everyone has already said everything I have been through. All
MLM's work the same and do the same thing to people: take your money
and your dreams and try to make you feel like a failure when you quit.

The only things different in my personal experience that I want to
share (and they aren't really different, just individual, I guess), is
that when I was working the business hard I helped a low income mom
lose her vehicle and eventually her phone service (her marriage was on
the ropes the last time I spoke to her). She had the drive,
willingness, and ambition and worked VERY HARD at succeeding. The
thing was, we were on the bottom and it just couldn't work for us. She
was my first: "is success worth this and is it available to everyone
in the program?" moment. I have all kinds of pins and badges and
certificates for being the top "yada yada" in my area. I keep them
even now because they remind me that what I really was...was a top ass.

I worked it and worked it HARD. I got 2 or 3 hrs sleep a night, maybe
ate once a day, terrorized friends and family, gave strangers the
"hoo-rah" speeches, drove hundreds of miles for a meeting........you
name it. I guess I lasted about a year and 1/2. When I started
figuring out that no matter how hard I worked, no matter what my
upline told me, no matter what I did........I was losing money and
putting us in a hole overall. Oh yeah, I would tell you I made +$1,000
yesterday (which I did).......what I didn't tell you was how much it
was costing me to gross that in. The "I'm done" point came when my
sponsor told me I would need to re mortgage my home to keep going.
Light bulb moment! I quit right then and there.

The only looking back I have ever done is to warn others away from the
"company" I was involved in. If anyone, at all, no matter how much I
love them or how close they are to me even remotely approaches me with
anything remotely resembling an MLM.....I share my experience and then
run like hell. Once was enough to teach me and I don't need a second
try or a "company that works".

One thing I do want to tell lurkers is that all of that "residual
income" they talk about is a bunch of BS. That only exists as long as
you purchase/sell a certain amount each month forever and your
downline also continues to sell/recruit. I was an active member on
herballawsuit.com for a long time trying to tell people about the
business practices of this company. I used to answer at least 5 or 6
emails a day asking me about Herbalife and I used to answer each one
personally. I think it was time better spent than the time I spent
trying to "work the business".

So, that's who I am. I haven't posted because there is nothing really
for me to add or expound upon what others have already said. That, and
it has been about 7-8 years since my experience and Mark kicked the
bucket after I left. I don't think the business practices could be
much different, but from what I have seen they have made "some"
changes. I don't want to misspeak.

But, I did want to finally introduce myself. Glad to be here and do
enjoy reading the info and posts.

Thank you
