Sorry I'm so late coming to the conversation - just got back from Nova
Scotia ;-)

Reading this stuff breaks MY heart, too. I have 7 adult kids; so can
completely relate.

Amway and Quixtar are not *really* the villains in this situation -
they just make products that can be sold to make a few extra
dollars.... but they HAVE allowed certain high-ranking Kingpins to
exploit IBOs with "training systems" that we tend to call AMOs (Amway
Motivational Organizations) and many of them employ very cult-like
methods to get people to suspend their critical thinking skills and
keep pouring money into their "system". Your son-in-law very well
could be a "motivational junkie" who likes the artificial excitement
and love these groups create. They tend to avoid cold hard facts,
like the odds of becoming a Diamond (a much-sought-after level):
waaaay less than 1%, according to Amway's own figures. Amway also
says that of every three IBOs one signs up, two will NOT renew the
following year. Or that the Average IBO sells 38 PV per month (um,
this will get you ZERO bonus checks)

Will your daughter read websites like this one?? There's a lot of
valuable info in the "Files" section. Of course, if she does, her
husband will be encouraged to NOT listen to his "negative wife" - and
some groups strongly endorse the concept that all "negative" should be
removed from one's life in order to be "successful".

MY "motherly advice" is to convince her to protect herself financially
- no matter WHAT that takes. Harsh words, yes. But he's going to
take them BOTH down, if one of them doesn't starting thinking clearly
- and SOON.
