Krissy, one of the ways you could have handled it was to say:
"I am so excited for you in your new business venture. I am not
interested at this time, however, in the future, who knows? Please
keep me posted on your progress and in 6 months, give me an update
on the company and your income. (Remember, 3 - 5 months, thousands
of dollars) Then I will take another look."
Now, after the fact, if you want to keep your friends of 11 years,
then send a note, thanking them for dinner, and the same note above.
Most people get very excited when they join a new MLM company so I do
not blame them for being excited. Talk about burning bridges tho.
You (they) do not attack your friends. Most people do not stick with
the MLM company even for 6 months. It is not FREE money and the
residual income can be there but it takes work.
Just check back and see in 3 - 5 months. If they are still with it,
still excited and what income? Ask if it was all they hoped for?
Hope you can keep the friendship.
