Your friend's husband is flat wrong! The FTC's stance is retail sales
[to customers not part of the business] must be made to be legal.
There are many FTC references to just this point on the Internet along
with a number of mlm companies which have been shut down because they
did not have retail sales. The following is a link to the FTC's
