Despite being a fairly intelligent, savvy and ethical person I became
involved in an MLM earlier this year (2006). The sole reason I
joined was because my sponsor was this bright, bubbly person whose
children were on the same swim team as mine. I truely belived, at
the time, that she would not get me into something deceptive or
illegal.
Well since joining and spending $2500 on "inventory" I've not felt
good about any of it and could not eagerly recruit family, friends or
relatives to join my business as I was so encouraged to do. Last
night I spent time on the web and found out the pyramid schemes (and
I'm pretty convinced that the MLM of which I'm involved is operating
such) are indeed illegal in the State of CA.
That said I want to put a halt to my involvement and get reimbursed
for my inventory. What I need is tips on how to write a letter
asking for same as the MLM does not honor returns (if I'm
understanding what I read last night I need to ask for reimbursement
before seeking arbitration in the State of CA).
Anyone out there who could suggest some key points that may perhaps
encourage the MLM to accept my return would be helpful. Also, if
anyone is familiar with the laws in CA is it better to go to
arbitration or just file suit against an MLM. If I go to small
claims in CA would the case be heard in my city of residence or where
the MLM is based (i.e., TX). If I do decide to file suit does anyone
know if filing a class action law suit in CA is generally more
expediant than those filed personally?
Thanks in advance,
C
