I think MLM exploits whatever weakness you have... Low self-esteem
can certainly be one of them. They promise that you will make
friends, become a millionaire and everyone will look up to you.
If it's the economy, they exploit the fact that you are your own
boss, again the so-called millions to be made, etc. If you are
bored or a stay at home mom, they promise adult interaction and
mommy-time away from the house and kids. Whatever your objection,
they've got a line for it. MLM saves us all from ourselves or our
circumstances ... or so the recruiters say.
It's all a crock of $%$#&*@!

I never thought of it this way, but it makes perfect sense! And
we're taught to search out people who "need" this opportunity. I
remember trainings on how to approach different types of people,
which angle to use when introducing your business to them. Stay-at-
home moms, we focused on adding a second income to their families,
plus a sense of identity away from their husbands and children.
People who worked outside of the home were approached with the time
aspect-not working for someone else, having spare time to spend with
your family, etc. We were actually taught to look for people with
HIGH confidence and self-esteem, as other people are attracted to
those qualities and it makes them better recruiters. I remember a
huge red flag going up when my NVP (top level in Arbonne) said on a
training that another type of person we should be looking to recruit
was someone with, "Seed money to invest in their business". Makes
me kind of sick to my stomach to think about myself really
belieiving that crap. As the old song says, "I can see clearly now,
the rain [or fog!] is gone."
