You mean TEAM as in "Team of Destiny"? If so, you're right to be
suspicious. I was involved in one of their sister companies a few
years ago, and at my very last recruiting meeting, I remember hearing
my upline Emerald talk about wanting to follow T.O.D.'s business
model... which sent a chill up my spine because, only weeks earlier,
I'd read an article on Scott Larsen's web site refering to Team of
Destiny as a pyramid scheme.
Still, TEAM at least mentioned SOMETHING about retail figures in their
presentation of "The Plan" (even if their expected sales figures were
low), whereas OUR group gave us the old "buy from yourself" business
model that has been giving AmWay (sorry, I mean Quixtar) such a bad name.
Funny, I've complained very loudly about much less deceptive tactics
than Quixtar's yet dared not utter so much as a word against my
line-of-sponsorship until I'd been inactive for almost two years.
Then, one year, I kind of "forgot" to renew... actually, I didn't
forget; I decided to use the money for more meaningful purposes and
sent it to the Pyramid Scheme Alert, an organization that I used to
hate because I thought they were trying to destroy my dreams...
Then I realized there are other ways to realize your dreams than
through MLM. Margie, you might want to tell that to your friend...
though I can't guarantee he/she will listen because these AMOs (or
should I call them QMOs?) tend to have a very strong hold over the
people in them. I was never a hard-core IBO, but I saw the effects it
was having on some of my friends who were... plus, I have a cousin
who's now involved in a different MLM.
Fortunately, it's not AmWay, but I'm still suspicious; I've had so
many bad experiences with these "business opportunities" which never
seem to work. She managed to build her business to a high level, too,
and while I'm happy for her success I had butterflies in my stomach
when she told me she'd just quit her job. I'm afraid to tell her what
I REALLY think of the whole MLM business... and I'm hoping, for her
sake, that Arbonne is different from the MLMs I was involved with.
All made the same promises of easy wealth, only to create the same
financial losses. In some, I lost more money than others, but I don't
want to sound like I'm complaining. My friends who'd recruited me
suffered much, much worse... which is why I'm worried about my cousin,
because it seems that the higher people advance in an MLM the more
trouble they get into...
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
