I've been in a home party business for 5 years, and I am on my way out. I just started a
"real" job to undo the debt. Let me tell you, the pride that I feel...I can clock in and clock
out, I am not a slave to my cell phone or e-mail, I do not have to load my purse with
business cards and catalogs, nor do I look at people with selfish motives. I can see people
for who and what they are, not as recruits.
Regardless of what your potential upline tells you...you CANNOT make a profit, or one that
is worth your time, unless you are recruiting. A 20-35% profit margin is quickly eaten up
by catalogs, conferences, supplies, postage, etc. What business can succeed on a 20%
margin? They will tell you that you don't have to recruit, they will tell you whatever you
want to hear, the bottom line is...your time and efforts are worth much more than
pampered chef, longaberger, tastefully simple, partylite, etc., can give you. By the day's
end, I may make $3/hour, then have to spend to replace my catalogs, etc. I am worth
much more than that, and not just on a financial level.
Hal, as for AVON, I can only share the situation of my 3 friends. Hundred/thousands in
inventory, because they got it for 40% off. Recruiting, yes, for $10 you can be an AVON
lady and have your dreams come true. HAH! If it smells like an MLM...it stinks!
