Yes, this is 101% true.

And then there are the others: the true believers. These are the people
that have been brainwashed and truly believe they will be wealthy in a
few years and that they are doing you a favor by getting you to join.
This group still has ethics, but they have been subverted and they are
like a computer that has been reprogrammed. Their normal desire to do
good has been subverted by those without a conscience.

I've learned sales techniques and my favorite part of teaching geometry
was using logic and teaching students how to use it. In my English
classes, I taught students how to work with logic and to avoid logical
fallacies (search for "logical fallacy" and you'll see a thread on them
that I started a few months ago). I have my own business which, at the
time, was at the point where it was young but paying my bills.

Even with all that, and a brief exposure to Scamway in college, after
the meeting, when all those people came up and said, "I'm doing this
well and ain't I great!", *I* was tempted to step up and sign on the
dotted line. By the end of the meeting you will be convinced that you
can just step into the business and start making a full time income
without working full time.

As I've quoted a bad movie many times before: "Be afraid. Be VERY
afraid."

Ask them what success is. Ask them if you are successful because you
are doing well and enjoy life. Ask them now before they're too
brainwashed. Then ask them if it is a friendly action to push someone
to do something they seriously don't want to do. The ask them why they
insist on putting a strain on your friendship by pushing you so hard to
do something you don't want to do.

One point: If they stay in, you *will* lose your friends over this, not
because you push them away, but because the other IBDrones will push
them to drop the "losers" who don't want to work the system. Accept
that right now because, if they stay in, it will happen, no matter what
you do. You are up against the Borg (if you aren't familiar with Star
Trek, it's a hive mind that controls all the drones and does not let
them think for themselves). Don't try to win because you are honest
and they will lie, cheat, steal, slander, and even hurt you in any way
they can to win.

Unless you have something to prove and an ego issue, walk away. To
quote another movie, "Strange game, Dr. Falken. The only way to win is
not to play." And if you remember that, it was in reference to "Global
Thermonuclear Warfare." Quackstar is just as dangerous and
destructive. Don't play and you can be sure you'll win.

Play, at all, and you lose.
