How much have you been advertising? Home business can be very lucrative. No, I'm not going to go off on a tangent about MLM's. But, I will tell you that in addition to my MLM, I also have a personal service business (non-MLM), and I have found that personal service businesses can be great money-makers! I cleaned houses years ago, also. Hard work, but it was quick cash.
I read an article a few years ago about lackeys and how being a lackey is a very quick way to make money. You just have to be willing and able to run your butt off and do services for others. In today's world, with many two-income households (many of which have one parent/partner working a 2nd job), there is no time to do the basic household things that need to be done. Going to the dry cleaners, for example, is a time-consuming chore that some people just don't have the time to complete. Dog walkers, in metropolitan areas, especially, can make good money because homeowners/parents can't get home home to let the dog out.
A local martial arts studio in my area offers "after school" lessons. They actually go to the child's school and pick the child up after school and transport him/her to the studio for class and after-school care. The parent picks them up at a designated time. Yes, they have a product (teaching the skill), but their service lies in their ability to pick up the child from school, because mom & dad can't.
Hey, we've all done things in our lives that maybe we shouldn't have done. We're all human. But, it can be difficult to find a job in your situation. I have a good friend who went through a similar situation many moons ago. She had a very difficult time finding a job because many applications question the applicant's history with regard to past activities that involved the law.
My suggestion is to sit down and brainstorm over how you can promote your personal training background, and/or look into what types of services you can provide to others. Then, give your local Chamber of Commerce a call and see if there is a small business center (non-profit) in your area that can give you the basics with regard to licensing, insurance, etc.
MLM's are definitely NOT the only way to make an income without having to "go to work". Hang in there.
Best wishes,
Terra

If anyone should try an MLM it would be me. I am a military wife, a
recent college graduate, a mother of a 1 year old, and a recent
convicted felon. (Not dangerous, creepy type, just made a mistake 4
years ago because I was a sucker, and ran with the wrong guys. They
got me to commit check fraud with them.) But anyway, I am so glad that
I have learned about these MLM's, because if not I would have probably
been suckered into one, since I can't find a decent job right now
because of my felony. Right now I consider myself a stay at home mom
who needs a job. (Seriously, I can't spend all day on this forum
anymore!) But I can see how someone like me can be easily persuaded,
if they didn't know the WORLD of MLM's. Good thing my husband is the
best because he is not mad at me for my mistakes, and knows that I am
struggling with getting hired. He said though, he would have been
enraged if I signed up with my cousin to be a distributor of Zija. He
said he would have "marched my ass back to their house to return the
stuff and punched my cousins husband in the nose."
My Aunt told me to take a cake decorating class, that sounds really
good and profitable right now. But if anyone needs Personal Training
in the San Diego area, that is actually my forte.
