Well, I heard something juicy from my daughter this week. I've
been "asking" her for a while "is it true that Quixtar is going back
to the Amway name?" and her answer has always been 'oh no, that
will never happen, that's just a rumor, I asked Bert about it, that
won't happen', etc. Well this week, she said it was true, and that
her and her husband are considering quitting Quixtar if they do. I
just about ran to the water tower across town and climbed up it with
a bullhorn and started screaming my joy to the world, but I know
this is just a start, with any luck at all. So I had to just keep
asking very non-challantly (sp?)...
"oh, is that so? Is _____ (Amway mother-in-law from hell) upset
about it too?"
'oh yes', she said, 'we have all started a letter-writing campaign
because WE NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THIS- AMWAY- WE NEVER EVEN HEARD THE
NAME AMWAY WHEN WE STARTED QUIXTAR'.
I told her "you know, honey, that makes me almost respect quixtar
more, that they would go back to the Amway name, because as I've
told you before, the fact that they misrepresent what they are is
one of the main problems I have with them. If you believe in the
Amway products and are proud of them, why not be proud of the name
too?" 'Well, ... hrumph, hrumph....'
So I think I had to sneak in an "I told you so" by saying
offhandedly "hmmm, it's kind of funny that I knew about that before
you did, isn't it? You'd have thought your upline would have told
you the truth about that way back when I first knew it".
Then we had a conversation on the phone yesterday about laundry soap
that was encouraging. She called me on the phone, ironically, just
as I was actually in the middle of placing an order myself for
laudry soap. (I signed up under her a year ago and decided to only
order the high efficiency laundry soap, which I do actually like,
and nothing else). She said 'hey mom, I was just placing an order
for diapers and wanted to know if you wanted me to order you some'.
I said "oh, that's funny, I was just ordering my laundry soap!" And
we looked up the price of diapers- with shipping, over $50 for 120
diapers. I told her that was just way too much- even with a small
rebate, no matter how good the diapers were, that's just way too
much! I told her that we'd just bought diapers for our house at
Walmart for about 1/4 of the quixtar price. Then I got her to go to
some websites and look at diaper costs, and she actually didn't
place the order! I think we're getting somewhere!
