Re: [MLM Survivors Club] Vending Machine Business - a little OT, but not too much

where to start?

This is not a good or a bad idea because it all depends on how hard your husband and his friend want to work at this. It is not a get rich quick or even a "get rich" scheme. You have to run hard to make an OK living at it.

Some of the things I guarantee your husband and his friend have not even considered.

1) Who provides the locations? If the company you are leasing the machines from does it then you should be able to get the income figures for the length of time the mahcines have been installed in those locations. If your husband and his frfiend are the ones who are supposed to do this - hav they ever done anyting at all like this in the past? Most places charge you to have machines in their location that's if you can persuade them to do it.

2) where will he get his supplies from?

3) what insurance will he carry? The machines are EXPENSIVE. There is also the personal liability of working a business where you carry cash around.

4) How much is th maintenance going to cost?

I would suggest that your husband actually contact someone who does this for a living and do some ridealong and ask some questions.

If you are the type of person who can a) spot a good, secure place to put a machine b) know what to sell in the machine c) can buy the supplies cheaply enough to make a profit d) know how to do your own maintenance then, as I know from a friend of mine who works this business you can make a fairly OK living.

Be prepared for increased IRS scrutiny - it's a cash business.

someone may have some knowledge on this topic.

LATE last night after he had a few drinks with a friend, my hubby
said he would like me to look into the vending machine business.

My first thought is "oh great, some lame get rich quick scheme that
won't be worth the time."

I'm willing to bet his buddy was like, "hey dude, we could make some
extra cash if we own vending machines."

Can anyone guide me toward some good info on this? I don't know if
this is any type of MLM/downline type scheme or what. But my gut
tells me it's not a wise idea... possibly a money pit.

I will, of course do some additional online research, but hope
someone has some insight.

Thanks a bunch.
