[MLM Survivors Club] Re: Unwavering Melaleuca Rep

Thank you all for your responses. I haven't responded to Jeremy yet,
but probably will today.

After swapping e-mail with PW, I'm posting here some of the more
pertinent parts from Jeremy's response to my questions. Like Paine
pointed out, the most brash of Jeremy's claims is that Melaleuca is
NOT an MLM.....

"I think that you hit the head on MLM and described it PERFECTLY.
I want you to know that I am in no way here going to try and convert
you to my company or a believer in MLM (as I don't believe in MLM
either). I will say that MLM has gotten a bad wrap for the reason that
you have put on the table. I am 10 ft tall and bulletproof when it
comes to Melaleuca. I will tell you why I think that I have found the
cookie."

"This is the cost to be a business builder or customer with Melaleuca:
The business/ customer welcome kit that explains the shopping system
to the compensation plan and membership fee is $29.99 (not selling but
comparing.) (100% refundable.) We have people buy products that they
use for their home, usually $50.00 of stuff that they already buy. No
huge investment.... An idea like shopping at Sam's club, Cosco, places
like that. They are empty bottle guaranteed which means that you can
use all of the product and if you don't like it, you can return it
within 60 days and get your money back, no questions asked (try that
at Wal-Mart :-). Try that with Wal-Mart or those other companies'
products. WE WANT YOU TO SHOP TO YOUR NEEDS! BUY WHAT YOU NEED! We
introduce others to our products through our referral process, and we
make a commission on their volume. No different being a car salesman
and making a commission that way. That customer will buy somewhere,
why not through your part of the company. They save time, energy, and
money. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so!"

"There are a lot of companies out there that has a level hotline that
will call you and say if you spend that extra $x amount of dollars
that will get you to the next level. Buy x amount of dollars to get to
the next level, no real business building there, but frontloading.

"We don't have a points hotline; you are not paid on your own volume,
but paid on your business volume."

"The commission is based upon 2 things like action and leadership.
Action being that you are enrolling customers and introducing them to
the company. This is the bulk of the company. Then you are bonuses for
helping people that are interested in a business build their customer
base and help them grow. I think that is a great balance. If you want,
you could fill your garage with our product, peddle it off for some
inflated price, and run your gas out of your car and spend your time
delivering things. I would take cash only, because it is a pain in the
ass to collect money on a bad check. I think you see the point, let
the company do the work, why do all the extra unless you have to. They
will take care of your customers (there is some customer service
things that we do as well, but the money collecting etc is done
through Melaleuca."

"I have been working the business for about 6 months. I have made a
nice income from Melaleuca, not enough to live on yet, but my goal is
to make it full time next year. I can introduce you to my mentor Jack
Maitland that I am sure would be happy to send you his 1099 to show
that he made his full time income from Melaleuca. He has been with
Melaleuca for I think 4 years."

"This was an attempt to explain how we are a company that is different
from the competition. In MLM they are a lot of times in competition
with each other. My competition that I believe that we outperform is
Johnson & Johnson, Colgate, etc."

I already have some good ideas on how to respond to most of this,
thanks to your previous messages. I just wanted to show you how drawn
into this he is. He really believes Melaleuca isn't an MLM and that he
can make an honest living doing it.

Keep the good ideas coming!!
